Greg talks with Jeff Patterson, success and leadership coach and author of The Big Thing Effect, about the climb on Aconcagua that changed his life and how to stop avoiding your big thing.
On summit day, after 14 days on the mountain and roughly 10 hours of sleep, Jeff watched a climber fall to his death in front of him and had to decide whether to turn around or keep going toward the man he knew he was capable of being. He and Greg trained and climbed together for years, and they trade stories from Long's Peak and the Grand Canyon rim to rim before getting into harder questions.
Jeff explains the difference between changing what you do and changing who you are being, why marriage and parenting are the truest mirrors a leader has, and the three kinds of readers his book speaks to: high achievers, people facing a new chapter after a sale or a milestone, and people who have been stuck for years. His word for the stuck ones is simple. Most of them are being hard on themselves and mislabeling their own strength.
