Description

Claudia Barlow spent 29 and a half years at Accenture and is now a Senior Executive Coach. She talks with Greg Aden about reinventing yourself when a role ends and building a career without a five year plan.

Claudia describes moving from consulting into HR knowing almost nothing about it, and why taking the first step matters more than finding the perfect one. She and Greg dig into mentors who handed her opportunities before she felt ready, why recognition works better when it is specific instead of a vague compliment, and how to handle a leader you think does not get you by checking your own assumptions first and opening a direct conversation about expectations. They also talk about curiosity as a skill that requires humility, since you cannot be genuinely curious if you believe you already have the answers.

The last stretch turns personal. Claudia shares her path through infertility and the birth of her twins, Jack and Bailey, her husband's years as a stay at home dad, and the three jobs she believes a parent has: identify their potential, give them a firm foundation, and try not to mess them up.
