As Jesus is traveling along the road towards Jerusalem the people would throw their cloaks and palm branches on the road, as today we would lay out a red carpet for royalty. They began to shout “Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord” - a Psalm written hundreds of years previous, but that pointed ahead to the coming of the Messiah.
