Seeds grow. And not just in soil, seeds grow in my mind.
Imagine… everything you see through your eyes is a seed.
What visions are you planting?
Imagine… everything you hear through your ears is a seed.
What beliefs are you planting?
Imagine… everything you speak is a seed.
Do you plant beauty with your words?
Imagine… every thought is a seed.
The field of science which studies this phenomenon is called neuroplasticity. After years of studying this science, alongside my practice of meditation, I now consider every stimulus a seed. Which means, I am always sowing seeds.
I sow seeds with my eyes, my ears, my lips. I sow seeds with my skin, through touch and vibration. I sow seeds with my mind, through thought. I even sow seeds through emotion.
In fact, emotion is directly registered by, and influences, the deepest layers of my mind. But I can’t control how my subconscious interprets emotional situations.
When I cling fearfully to money, or to love, as though there is never enough, what does my subconscious register?
I can only guess how emotions influence my subconscious, but what I know with certainty is that my mind is composed of tiny, little seeds called neurons.
When I water neurons with emotion, or attention or repetition, they grow, when I ignore neurons, they die. And thankfully so, otherwise every seed would grow.
You are the gardener of your life. And every choice you make sows seeds.
There are a million ways for you to tend roots, fruits & seeds of your mind. You simply need to begin, to tend your one sacred life.
I am the master of my fate. I am the captain of my soul.
I do not believe Henley, the author of this quote, wrote these words and then planted seeds at random because I think he remembered what I forget.
Seeds grow. And I am the gardener of my life.
