Actress Anne Heche died tragically this month in an avoidable accident, probably caused by driving under the influence of drugs. What is most distressing aside from her death is what her 20-year-old son said:
“My brother Atlas and I lost our Mom. After six days of almost unbelievable emotional swings, I am left with a deep, wordless sadness. Hopefully my mom is free from pain and beginning to explore what I like to imagine as her eternal freedom."
His pain is obvious, but sadly, he has no confidence about where she is or what she might now be experiencing. He does not have a any real understanding of the afterlife. This lack of assurance only adds to the brothers' emotional loss and suffering.
But God told us about the afterlife in his revelation, the Bible. We can not only know about the hereafter, we can be assured of going there when our time to depart the world comes.
