Everyone doubts. Some of the greatest minds of the Christian faith have expressed doubts, not unbelief, doubt. There is a difference. Os Guinness's classic, God in the Dark: The Assurance of Faith Beyond a Shadow of Doubt is highly recommended. Doubt is part of my spiritual journey, especially when I was coming of age. I never doubted the existence of God, but I certainly doubted whether I was truly saved. This was long before I learned more about trusting God and his character and work, and before I read some tremendous works like Guinness' God in the Dark. I also came to understand 2 Tim. 2: 12-13, if we disown him - unbelief - he will disown us. If we are faithless - doubt - he remains faithful for he cannot disown himself. Fantastic truth.
