"Confirm thy soul in self-control, thy liberty in law." So says the 1893 poem, "America the Beautiful" by Katharine Lee Bates, later published with music to become one of this country's iconic patriotic hymns. But self-control and liberty in law seem a long way from what we are now experiencing, a spate of lawlessness rooted not only in the perpetrator but perpetuated and even promoted by progressive governors, mayors, district attorneys, and "prosecutors" who do not prosecute, do not hold the guilty accountable. Our cities are taking the brunt of this criminal anarchy. So we get lawlessness, increasing and increasingly violent. Lawlessness is a symptom of cultural decline. Sadly, lawlessness is what average Americans do when they don't get their way. For more Christian commentary, check my website at rexmrogers.com.
