Description

Patriotism is an incredibly powerful emotion common to all people groups throughout time. But it can ebb and flow, including in the United States of America, once considered one of the most patriotic nations on earth. In recent years, it is ebbing. Can we be patriotic? The Greatest Generation thought so, for this is one motive that powered them to victory in WWII, thus preserving freedom for Americans today. But patriotism in recent days is considered passe by some, not worthy of our best thoughts and efforts. This is sad and potentially threatening to the future of our free society.  What does it mean to be patriotic? Should Christians be patriotic, or can they be patriotic about America? What does it mean to be patriotic in a less patriotic age?
