Description

Sometimes we think superstition is just the province of backward people or lands, however we define these terms, or we think superstition is just harmless fun and games. Neither view is correct. Superstition is a surrogate religious worldview based upon fear and idolatry and it is as evident in America as anywhere else in the world.  Sadly, while superstition ostensibly helps deal with fear it actually fosters it, or merely masks it like whistling in the dark. Christianity, however, is based not on fear but a loving Heavenly Father and knowable truth. Christian believers should not therefore be superstitious. As American culture continues to reject belief in God and moral truth, Americans become more susceptible to irrational ideas rooted in anxieties. This is what American youth in particular are now experiencing, fed by online advocates of all manner of pagan views, and it is a direct threat to mental, spiritual, emotional, and physical well-being.
