As we begin to unpack the stunning and surprising conclusion to Jonah. Last week we saw a repentant King, and a relenting God this week we will see a resenting prophet. Jonah resents that Gods mercy and grace was being given to those he despised. And through a vine, worm and wind God exposes Jonah’s wicked heart and shows Jonah his compassionate heart. Jonah fell into the same mistake many of us do namely the a mindset that says “compassion for me, and judgement for thee.” Let us pray that our hearts would be conformed to Gods heart which is “gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love.
