As we continue our series in Jonah we will be talking about fear. This section of Jonah is what theologians call an inclusio, it starts with fear, talks about fear in the middle and ends with fear. Whats interesting about it is that at each juncture they seem to be afraid of something different. As first the sailors are afraid of losing their lives, later they are afraid of Yahweh’s Wrath, and finally they Fear the Lord. In exploring these different types of fear we can learn something about our hearts and the heart of God.
