To be a Christian is to be a disciple. To be a disciple is to be like Jesus. To be like Jesus is to learn to love like Jesus. Loving like Jesus is the great authenticator that we have been with God. This weekend, we will delve more deeply into Christ’s radical teaching about who and how we’re to love.

What is a Christian? Someone who attends church, reads their Bible, and prays? Is a Christian a person who professes faith in Christ or the creeds of the church? What is primary to our identity as Christians? It’s interesting, the word “Christian” is only found 3 times in the New Testament. Yet the word “disciple” (which means a student or apprentice or follower) occurs 269 times. The point is to be a Christian is to be a disciple. Being a disciple is not an add-on to the Christian life. It is the Christian life.
