Part 4 – How Do You Forgive Yourself?
We took the wrong path, said the wrong thing, or even hurt the person we loved the most. When we don’t forgive our own mistakes, we carry around boulders of regret that crush our spirit and interfere with every relationship. We choke back the pain and limp our way through life as best we can but never know the freedom of a peaceful heart. In this final installment of our forgiveness series, we take on one of the most difficult aspects of forgiveness - forgiving ourselves. Be sure to check out this compelling conclusion to “Letting Go of Things that Won’t Let Go of You.”
SERIES: Letting Go of Things that Won't Let Go of You
C. S. Lewis said, “Everyone says forgiveness is a lovely idea until they have something to forgive.” Isn’t that the truth? One of the major reasons we don’t forgive is because we don't understand what forgiveness is or how it works. In one major study, researchers discovered only a handful of people have a coherent, Biblical view of forgiveness. In fact, only 4% of the general population and only 5% of all Christians could separate fact from fiction when it came to forgiveness. That’s sad and that’s something we want to address in this series. Most of all, we hope to help you discover the freedom that comes from letting go of hurts.
