This is the private and unedited record of the Social Chess evening of a club famed for its good atmosphere, and social events as much as for its successes in the combative regional league.
As self-appointed publicity officer of the club, I have produced this semi-audible record of snatches of the highlights of the evening. It is not intended for further circulation beyond the ears of club members.
As my recordings took place during pauses between rounds, the background noises completed with my audio notes.
The voices of David (Taylor) and James (Scorer) hastily co-opted as tournament directors after Steve (Kelly) ‘s ankle break, can be heard giving inter-round instructions. You will also hear our new top seed Alex (Longson) receiving his winner’s prize, and a certain degree of confusion before another new member, Luke (Oldfield) received a consolation prize. His win was justified by his interview after one of his wins, and the triumph against me. Note to team captains and secretary Keith (Hodgson), we got Luke’s provisional grade quite a bit on the low side…
Hope you enjoy the audio
