Mark 1:40-45 is the text for this sermon entitled, "The Compassion of Jesus"
Good news spreads quickly! This story of Jesus cleansing a leper demonstates the compassion of Jesus. Compassion is more than empathy. The leper came to Jesus humbly, kneeling, and broken in body and spirit. He beseeched help and needed comfort. This impacted the Savior and He touched the sick man. He was willing to do what most others wouldn not do. Throughout Mark, we read of Jesus "touching and being touched". May God give us the courage to offer the compassion of Jesus to those in need.
