Joseph a foreshadow of Jesus:
- Joseph is a shepherd and Jesus is the Great Shepherd (Gn 37:2, Jn 10:11, 14).
- Israel loves Joseph and the Father loves Jesus (Gn 37:3, Mk 1:11).
- Joseph is hated by his own as Jesus is hated by His own (Gn 37:5, Jn 7:5).
- Joseph and Jesus tell of their future exaltation (Gn 37:9, Mk 14:62).
- Joseph is sent by his father as Jesus is sent by His Father (Gn 37:14, Jn 8:42).
- Joseph is forsook by his brothers as Jesus is forsook by his disciples (Mk 14:50).
- Joseph is mocked as a dreamer and Jesus is mocked as a prophet (Gn 37:19, Mk 14:65).
- Joseph and Jesus are both stripped of their robes (Gn 37:23, Mk 15:20).
