My "good" knee recently took a deep dive into the dark side. It's frustrating when your body doesn't keep up with your personal goals! So it looks like I'll be having knee surgery in the near future. And it got me thinking about my experiences with surgery. Looking back on them, I ended up being glad I had each procedure, because eventually yes, I ended up feeling better. But having surgery has its own bumps in the road. Surgeons have a tendency to sugarcoat the whole experience. Maybe sugarcoat is the wrong word. Gloss over the bad parts? LOL. The reality is often a little bit harder than they paint it to be. But surgery is a little scary and a little complicated, so I have to laugh at it!
