In one of the later Star Wars movies, Darth Vader, the bad guy who is totally despicable, ends up being killed. The movie discloses that he was really the father of the good guy, the hero, Luke Skywalker. However, in the last scene of the movie, there is a great celebration of the good guys and the creatures who helped them defeat the bad guys. While the good guys are sitting enjoying the fulfilment of their victory, there appears an illuminated group of former leaders who have previously died. Within that group is the notorious Darth Vader (actual name Anakin Skywalker), who is now uncloaked, smiling, and lovingly looking upon his son, the living hero.
I love that scene, because it gives me hope that one day people who I believe to be terribly bad can perhaps become changed. Or in some cases, maybe it is through a change in our relationship that my insights or opinions of them are changed. Either way, hope releases me. I hope it will for you, too.
Thanks for listening.
