#TTM EP. 24 - HOW TO ENJOY
Watch the intro to the episode HERE.
Our desire and our need for pleasure can sometimes prevent us from experiencing joy. Pleasure is always something outside of us providing us with that feeling while joy comes from within. There is never enough pleasure to compensate for a lack of joy.
We can enjoy ourselves, and we can enjoy our lives, even when things are hard. We spend a lot of time being upset that our life isn’t matching up with the version in our heads. Most of us want to be different from who we are. So, we miss out on enjoying the extraordinary experience of being ourselves.
And the first step to enjoying yourself and your life is to like yourself first. Actively choosing to like yourself on purpose.
In this week's episode, I explore some ideas on how to wake up joyous every day, and how to enjoy being you!
#TTM EP. 24 - HOW TO ENJOY // SELF ENQUIRY
What do you think should be different about you? Make a list of people who should be different from how they are. How would you like them to be different and why? How should your past have been different than it was?
Write down what it is like to experience life in your mind as if nothing has ever
gone wrong.
This will clear away resentment and pain to make way for more enjoyment. Pick one thing you have done that you regret, was embarrassing, that was painful, or you simply wish you hadn’t done. Write down why you think you did it. Understand it from a compassionate perspective. Write down how you can release this from your mind and move on.
Write down why you are doing this. Have compassion with yourself, try to understand the benefit you seem to be getting from doing this. Write down the long-term effect this has on your ability to enjoy yourself and your life.
Write down one thing about yourself. It can be “good” or “bad.” Pick a characteristic
that you would use to describe yourself to someone who doesn’t know you.
