A New York music journalist goes on a quest to uncover the truth behind the mysterious disappearance of young Brazilian piano virtuoso Alberto Tenorio Jr. A celebratory origin story of the world-renowned Latino musical movement Bossa Nova, They Shot The Piano Player captures a fleeting time bursting with creative freedom at a turning point in Latin American history in the 60s and 70s, just before the continent was engulfed by totalitarian regimes.

Did I say how much I like this incredible piece of art? I will again say that they blend of animation, music, the tory itself and the compelling way in which it was assembled, is off the charts phenomenal. I really enjoyed allowing the soul of this little film carry me into the stratosphere. An amazing achievement deserving of far more views than what we have seen so far. It is, I’m my opinion, the quintessential “art-house” film.
Do I need to further belabor the point that George Lucas “borrowed heavily” from Frank Herbert?? You know all that. Dune is so much more complex and layered. But SW has made more money than any other franchise, by far, so one can only hope that Denis and Co will begin immediately to chip away at his lead and when all the spice has settled, sit atop the SciFi desert of dough. If for no other reason than to lend credence to the Tennant that if one controls the spice, one controls all.
