OK, raise your hands (wherever you are) if you were one of the lucky ticket holders for Saturday night’s TRUE LOVES show. Wave them high and high. THAT, my dear friends is why we put so much effort and energy into our special events. So. Much. Fun. Next up is the return of VICTIM’S OF LOVE, the quintessential Eagles tribute band on March 28. Tickets are on-sale as we speak. As they say. We have also added the MARVIN HOFFERT JAZZ BAND for an afternoon of straight ahead Jazz on Saturday, March 21 at 7p. Throwback priced at $10, tix will go on-sale this week.
ONSF: Three categories, screened in rotation thru Thursday. Of the films I have seen so far, I especially like THE SINGERS from the LIVE ACTION category. Runner up is THE THREE SISTERS from ANIMATION. You be the judge, as always.
A PRIVATE LIFE. Jody Foster is renowned psychiatrist Lilian Steiner, who mounts a private investigation into the death of one of her patients, whom she is convinced has been murdered. French filmmaker Rebecca Zlotowski’s classy, curious whodunit caters to the sophisticated audience we like to call our core demographic.
OBAA. Starts Mar 6. Got my vote for Best Picture, so back it roars onto our big screen the week prior to the March 15 presentations. Just in case you forgot exactly how good it is. Of the 10 films (the Academy went from 5 to 10 in 2009) we screened 8 of them. Not a bad 80% regardless of the stage, screen or sport, should you ask this digital commentator.
You heard it here first. The news is out. We are now, officially, moving into 501(c)(3) status. The will dramatically affect both the way we do business and the means to do it with. Should any of you be specialists in this area and be willing to discuss the finer points of community service under a pro bono umbrella, please call me at once.
