There you have it, the next ten days at the HLT. Please take note of the TWO SCREENINGS ONLY of CASABLANCA on Sun 3.5 @ 1 and Wed 3.8 @ 7. I probably don’t need much ink space to tell you about Rick and Ilsa’s time in Paris, nor Sam’s favorite piano divertimento, or even the constant backroom game of blackmail and protection that was prevalent in WWII Northern Africa, suffice it to say that this one, digitally remastered to the noirest shades of black, gray and off-white, will remind you that the golden age of Hollywood began with this pallet of suspense, shadows and cigarette smoke.
And please do not forget about the special evening we will enjoy with the Gothard Sisters on Thursday night March 16. Take a listen to my podcast with Greta Gothard and then navigate over to our home site at Farawayentertainment.com to secure your space that night for some high-energy traditional Irish folk music. I can’t wait to pour our torpedo kegs of Bainbridge Brewing’s incredible Battle Point Stout dry as a bone that night! Remember I have been advertising this delightful dark stout as “Better than Guinness” and have yet to have a single customer, Irish or otherwise, disagree. Not one.
I would like to thank everyone who came out yesterday to enjoy our Cycling films and partake of the post film Q & A with our three cycling celebs, Kiel Reijnen, Joe Holmes and Eleven Winery’s former pro and founder Matt Albee. Joe and I did a 45 minute session this morning which I hope to have edited and mastered for your listening enjoyment later this afternoon. The general consensus is that we should do it again next year. I will therefore promise you this: Should I be blessed with another year on this planet, we will.
I wonder if we should stage a “Dress like Rick or Ilsa and get a free popcorn” night? Who among us wouldn’t pay handsomely for a chance to don Bogey’s duds, or earn that money-shot close up that made Ingrid Bergman a silver screen legend? I would really love to say, “Of all the gin joints and movie houses, in all the world, on Bainbridge Island, she has to walk into mine.”
Here's lookin’ at you kid.
