Starting Friday, Sept 16 we open SEE HOW THEY RUN. Show times are 4:45 & 6:45.
In the West End of 1950s London, plans for a movie version of a smash-hit play come to an abrupt halt after a pivotal member of the crew is .... murdered. When world-weary Inspector Stoppard (Sam Rockwell) and eager rookie Constable Stalker (Saoirse Ronan) take on the case, the two find themselves thrown into a puzzling whodunit within the glamorously sordid theater underground, investigating the mysterious homicide at their own peril. Whew!
Critics have called SEE HOW THEY RUN, "Sharp, silly, stylish and sensational" Not many Agatha Christie spinoffs can claim a pair of Oscar winners as leads (Sam Rockwell and Adrien Brody) but their acclaim might be upstaged by the fabulous Saoirse Ronan as the rookie constable eager to make her mark with the British policing brass. Directed by Tom George its a puzzling whodunit inside the glamorously sordid theater underground.
As a bonus to this week's coming attraction 'cast, we visit the first (and hopefully annual) Bainbridge Creative District's Bridge Fair, which was held Saturday at Waterfront Park. We chat with long-time Islander and Jazz Singer Jenny Davis about her history on the Island, her musical vocation and even about her appreciation of movie scoring and a few of her favorites, (and in keeping with the mystery theme began above, I will provide the clues of George Clooney and Mister Spok.)
Should you be one of the few remaining folks who HAVEN'T seen WHERE THE CRAWDADS SING or MARCEL THE SHELL, there are only two more nights to do so, tonight (Wed) and Thursday. MARCEL screens at 5 and CRAWDADS at 6:45.
As we have discontinued our long-running movie land-line (206.842.3080) replacing it with the more contemporary web offering (this) please subscribe to the Historic Lynwood Theatre Podcast where we will be adding weekly updates on upcoming attractions, local events, specials and, as they say in print media, lot's more. All this effective immediately.
Lastly, to kick off the new feature, the first THREE people to correctly answer this weeks podcast trivia question will get their (real butter) popcorn FREE (foxtrot romeo echo echo). Restrictions apply, void where prohibited and not applicable with other offers. The question:
What local film-maker has raised 100 million dollars from the efforts of his NPO and collection of short films, that they rightfully call, Films with Impact?
Simply announce your intention to enter this exciting contest when you purchase your tickets to watch the first-run whodunit SEE HOW THEY RUN, starting Friday.
