COMING ATTRACTIONS - JAN 29 - BIG BLOCKBUSTERS BACK
Due to the cinematic magnitude of today’s announcement, we’re moving directly to the BIG news. If I was to ask you to name me two of 2023s top three films, or, put another way, to name me two of the top three box office grossing films at the HLT last year, how would you answer? That’s correct, Boys in the Boat is the hands down winner, but the other two? How about Oppenheimer and Killers of the Flower Moon? Oooh, that’s a BINGO. Christopher Nolan and Martin Scorsese are two of the most revered directors, if not of all time, then certainly in the currently working category. Among them they have crafted several of the most popular and critically accredited films ever created. A quick look shows:

The Dark KnightTaxi Driver
MomentoRaging Bull
TenentGoodfellas
Dark Knight RisesGangs of New York
DunkirkThe Aviator
InterstellarThe Irishman
InceptionThe Departed
The PrestigeShutter Island
With both their 2023 efforts being the two in question in my screaming full-caps headline, and of course, they are arguably their best. That is saying something considering the scope of quality films demonstrated in the list above. Therefore, it is my pleasure to announce that starting Friday, we’ll screen both OPPENHEIMER AND KILLERS OF THE FLOWER MOOM back-to-back. Here is what that level of awesome looks like:
Tuesday, Jan 30 - FREUDS LAST SESSION @ 4:20 & 6:40 - OCAP
Wed, JAN 31 - FREUDS LAST SESSION @ 4:20 & 6:40
Thu, Feb 1 - FREUDS LAST SESSION @ 4:20 & 6:40
Fri, Feb 2 - OPPENHEIMER @ 3:15 & KILLERS OF THE FLOWER MOON @ 6:40
Sat & Sun, Feb 3&4 - OPPENHEIMER @ 3:15 & KILLERS OF THE FLOWER MOON @ 6:40
Mon, Feb 5 - KILLERS OF THE FLOWER MOON @ 3 & OPPENHEIMER @ 6:55
Tue, Feb 6 - KILLERS OF THE FLOWER MOON @ 3 & OPPENHEIMER @ 6:55 (OCAP)
Wed, Feb 7 - KILLERS OF THE FLOWER MOON @ 3 & OPPENHEIMER @ 6:55
Thu, Feb 8 - KILLERS OF THE FLOWER MOON @ 3 & OPPENHEIMER @ 6:55
What do you think about them apples? Even if you came out (like everyone else) in August or October to watch this pair of spectacular period pieces, historical fiction at its finest, I can almost guarantee you missed something. I know I did. Let’s simply call it a refresher ramp up to the Oscars. And of course you know that Lilly Gladstone graduated from Mountlake Terrace High School.
Lastly today, be sure to circle Feb 10 & 16 on your wall calendars. The 10th is local filmmaker and ski wiz Josh Anderson’s pair of extreme ski shorts as well as his intro and Q&A afterwards, and the 16th is our fifth musical offering, where we cleverly morf from film to music (and yes, you can dance in the aisles) with the highly acclaimed West Coast Feed band. Tickets for both special events are currently on-sale on our (new) website, here.
Thanks as always for your help and support. As I have become fond of saying, without you, we are nothing.
Ciao a presto,
Kevin
