Description

Did you miss me? After 104 consecutive weeks of exciting podcast action here at the HLT, I took a four day mini vacation to Las Vegas last week, and in so doing, missed the weekly ‘cast.  One thousand and one pardons. So let’s get started on a new streak, shall we?

Dune II is magnificent. It is so good that I am taking another vacation, this the classic Bussman’s Holiday tomorrow to watch with captions opened. My hearing is getting so bad I’m getting good at lip reading. And the captions help with some critical dialogue crucial to following this incredibly deep and expansive story. I was a heart-beat away from seeing an advance IMAX screening in Sin City, but the only remaining seats were in the first row. Headacheville for me. Here is the schedule, which will be constant for awhile.

DUNE II @ 3:45 & 7 Daily - 12:30, 3:45 & 7 on Sat & Sun.

Also we are conducting an exit poll survey in conjunction with the simul-screening at both the HLT and BI Cinemas. Just a couple of softball questions that might take five minutes of your time. There will be a random drawing at the conclusion of the Dune event for some excellent prizes, so don’t forget to leave contact info. The forms are at the concession stand. Thank you.

UPCOMING SPECIAL EVENTS:

MARCH 6 @ 5pm. Continuing the March: It’s 2024! Prof David Domke and Executive Director of Common Power will host a slide show and discussion on what we - that’s you and me - can do to ensure that our Democracy does not end on our watch. Because those are the stakes folks. To quote the late hero John Lewis, “When we pray, we must also move our feet”. That means action. Our event will provide a roadmap for how we can impact the fight for our democracy and pass a new voting rights act. WE NEED YOU HERE! WEDNESDAY, MARCH 6 @ 5PM.

SATURDAY @ 7pm. The Bainbridge Island Film Festival’s Second Saturday in now in its third month and screening the incredible and absurd HUNDREDS OF BEAVERS on HLT Prime Time. Tickets at BIFILMFEST.ORG

Sunday, March 10 is the 96th Academy Awards from the Dolby Theatre in LA. Maybe next year we’ll try one here. (I can tell you now that DUNE II will win in several categories).

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 14 @ 6 - THE GOTHARD SISTERS return to the HLT for another fun-filled evening of tradition Irish folk music. If you were in the audience last year you’ll remember the energy and quality of their act. Battle Point Stout from Bainbridge Island Brewing will be chilled and ready for your entertainment accompaniment. Cheers!

FRIDAY, MARCH 22 @ 6pm - Bainbridge Island Parks and Trails in conjunction with the Strawberry Hill Bike Park will host a fundraising event guaranteed to spark your off-road interest. The MOUNTAIN MOVIE NIGHT will feature films, talks, prizes a raffle and of course food and drink. A measly ten bucks gets you in the door and primed for action. Tickets here.

That’s it for today my friends. Thank you so much for your continued support. Please come and see Dune II, even if you’re not a SiFi fanatic. The Herbert family has a long and proud history of life in the Pacific Northwest and has shared many of those impressions in the storyline of this incredible epic tale of love, war, greed, hope, betrayal, power, politics and courage. Toss Hans Zimmer in the mix and my latest crush Chani (Zendaya) and you have a winner. Come see for your fine self.

LONG LIVE THE FIGHTERS!

Kevin
