THE COMMENTARY.

THE APPRENTICE. Don’t you feel slightly dirty when someone, especially someone in power, or politics, or both, begins a response with “Truth be known?” Mirroring everything else in their entire contextual backstory that has been a smokescreen of propaganda rivaling any conman’s pitch for snake-oil. In other words, totally fradulent. Since the first time I heard the name Donald Trump, in relation to his now immortalized real estate tactics in NYC, I dismissed him as just another bigoted Big Apple shyster. Enter Roy Cohn, who made him look like an angelic Boy Scout. Fast forward 50 years on the national stage and the same grifter, now a convicted felon, a malignant liar, disgustingly and disturbingly misogynistic and racist to his rotten core, wants to be King of America, vowing to have the US Army kill all who oppose his fascist agenda and self serving hustles. I stand appalled and amazed that his message of fear and hatred is blindly accepted by close to half the American population. This, then, is his story, his apprenticeship with Roy Cohn. Truth be Known. Rated R for repulsive. But not a bad doc. I just can’t get past the subject matter. Sue me Roy.

CONCLAVE. I remember when I was an Altar Boy, yes I did 12 years in the Catholic system, fascinated by watching my neighbors putting cash in the collection basket, passed among them at a strategic point in every Sunday’s mass. “Where does all this dough go?”, I remember thinking, and if this in just one small church, among thousands, where does it all end up? No wonder the Separation of Church and State statute was solid operating procedure - until Trump. I shudder in writing this as I consider the evil irony in stealing from the Catholic Church. Ralph Fiennes, Stanley Tucci, John Lithgow and Isabella Rossellini star in the Edward Berger directed thriller from the 2016 novel of the same name by Robert Harris, Rated R, 120 minutes.

THE SHINING. As we saw over the weekend, and as we demonstrated earlier this year with the BIFF Late Night at the Lynwood offerings, there (seems to be) a growing demand for adult entertainment here on our insular stone in the Salish Sea. And what could be more fun than gathering to witness one of the GOAT classics on Halloween? Jack Nicholson starring in his most iconic role, directed by Stanley Kubrick in the Steven King penned liturgical nightmare, THE SHINING? Whoa. Wednesday and Thursday at 8:45. Here’s Johnny and pass the candy corn.

All for today folks. Big thanks to all who came out for our free screening of I AM GRETA and NO on I-2117 event Saturday night. We are blessed by having such progressive, forward thinking neighbors working for us in our community. Also, please catch MUSIC FOR MUSHROOMS when you can. Absolutely stunning film.

Go Blue!

Love, Peace, Wisdom.  May the Truth be Known by all.

Much better. Ciao.
