Description

"What an incredible Journey", I commented upon completion of our detailed discussion. She began to laugh. I was about to ask what was so funny, when she asked if my pun was intentional. Then I laughed.

All the way from Piqua, Ohio, fledgling filmmaker, writer, dancer and actor Erika Hamilton Loubek joins us for HLT Episode 108. Her Journey (you'll have to listen to be in on it) had stops in Philly as a cheerleader for the 76ers, the U of Cincinnati, another cheer-leading job in New York as well as acting in several high-profile commercials, trading chops with big-wigs like Bob Dylan and for Nike, Microsoft among many others. Seeking change from the hustle-bustle of the Big Apple she came cross-country ending in LA, where the sweet lightning bolt of inspiration found it's mark one afternoon on the Pacific Coast Highway.

The rest, as is said, is history.  Armed with inspiration, a rough script  and a dream she went in search of a producer - and found a husband. Who singed on for the long run, but not before adding his name to the credits as Executive Producer. Two kids and a number of Film Festival awards later, we screened her short, Out Of Tune, at the HLT the Sunday before our session.

It may be a short but it's long on messaging. Soon we'll release the videocast version of our session as we try a bonus feature Actor's Commentary to the sixteen minute piece. Please stay tuned for that!

You can find Erika at Out Of Tune Film on Insta and FB.
