Description

What would one do upon completion of a 3,156 mile, 84 day run across America, specifically from Long Island, NY to Ocean Shores, WA? That (gleeful but injured) one would, in this case, come visit us at the Historic Lynwood Theatre and sit for an hour and talk about it. That is exactly what Islander (BHS class of 2007) Greg Nance did yesterday.  As a nutshell bio Greg, graduating as class president and captain of the dominating debate team, went on to the U of Chicago to study astrophysics and become an astronaut. He also brought a pair of start-ups into reality, moved to Shanghai to start a third, all the while maintaining his allegiance to the Seattle Seahawks by running to and from the televised game broadcasts, at 4am and fifteen miles from his apartment. That is some fan!

I was particularly amazed his feat of, get this, running 7 marathons, in 7 days, on seven continents. Please consider this before you download the 'cast in order to bring the proper awe to the experience.

As if all this running wasn't enough, Greg has also created the http://Runfarfoundation.com to encourage and inspire kids to seek mental health care, overcome drug and/or alcohol addictions and stay focused and informed when making the giant leap from High School to College, a trifecta of extraordinary mentoring and support in areas needing operating funds, personnel and a workable business model.

Along our conversational path, we cover most of the big ticket items, and a few of the smaller, perhaps more overlooked experiences that have created this home-grown  dynamic powerhouse, motivational runner, climber, teacher, entrepreneur, story-teller, and inspirational role model.

Please join us for this didactic exchange and find out for yourself what having the courage of one's convictions looks (and sounds) like.

Oh, yeah, we'll also talk about running movies.

Because that is what we do.
