Description

Our guest for the milestone episode number 110, has been around. Spending his youth in Mexico, Germany and, of course, LA, Joseph grew up in a household jam packed with creative energy. His Dad, a lawyer and screenwriter penned the blueprint for the 1967 satirical comedy Waterhole Number Three, starring James Coburn and Carrol O'Connor. He also had an early adaption of The Longest Yard optioned. From the time Joseph Steck went looking for work, hoping to catch on with a camera crew if possible, he already had a resume that included International travel and an insiders understanding of what it takes to go from movie-making inspiration to final-cut completion. It wasn't long before he was comfortable and confident on the set, behind the camera and all technical stops between.

We spend our hour plus in a back and forth conversation about Joseph's journey in the artistic community. How be finally landed on Bainbridge Island entails volumes of stores, anecdotes and the candid exchange of insider information. We even get to talk some set-speak, addressing the common misconceptions of who does what and what both their job responsibilities and titles require.

Save to say that this lively insider romp will provide even the most experienced production (and post production) personnel with both a nostalgic nod to the golden bygone years of Hollywood as well as the contemporary techniques used in today's hyper-paced run and gun shooting styles.

You can have good, fast or cheap. You get two of the three. Joseph Steck tells us how and why.
