Description

Filmmaker, actress, screenwriter, producer, and by her own assessment, most accurately, storyteller, we were most fortunate today to have Rachel Noll James visit with us on the big black stage at the Historic Lynwood.

Santa Fe to Bainbridge Island are start and current dots on her personal timeline with a ten year stay in Southern California  where she majored in Theatre Arts at Occidental (alma mater of such celebs as Barack Obama, Ben Afflick, Luke Wilson, Kiwi Smith and Terry Gilliam).  In the shadow of the Rose Bowl to Tinsel Town, Rachel began her journey of filmmaking after an indoctrination to live stage performance. "I just wanted more control, to tell stories that focus on women and minority issues", she says. And the magic was born under the name Emergence Films. Her early works include, The Storyteller, Half-Light, Follow the River, Don't Pass Me By, Malibu Road, and the recently wrapped, Ingress.

Ingress was locally  filmed, on Bainbridge, in three weeks of hectic shooting, using several local artists, actors and craftspeople.  For more stories from the set, check out our 'casts with Andrew Taylor (script supervisor on HLT Episode 107) and Joseph Steck (Key grip on Episode HLT 110).

Rachel shares her passion for filmmaking as well as her move to Bainbridge and subsequent discovery that on our humble rock in Puget Sound, in the creative area of arts and humanities, she is not alone.  A circumstance something we take great pride in celebrating.  After all, it is our mission statement.

"This is my love. Through all the life changes and frustrations of Hollywood and everything that came with that, I have never lost my love for storytelling. I'm really excited for the possibilities that opened up when i moved here."

Here, being The Great Pacific Northwest, Bainbridge Island and the Historic Lynwood Theatre.

We trust that those possibilities blossom into many years of storytelling, filmmaking and community involvement. A trust I feel is just getting started.
