Chapter Six opens with Oppenheimer and Groves taking a rare day off, but still managing to make plans to visit Oak Ridge and Hanford. We learn of the problems Oak Ridge is facing trying the stay on schedule while in Hanford, Oppenheimer hears of the many setbacks in production. In Yokosuka, Nobou has been relieved of duty aboard the I-25 and is now a senior flight instructor for a new wave of special force pilots. He continues to suffer from frequent 'flashbacks' , always with specific messaging and always containing his katana and the family kanji of honor. Back home, the boys take in a matinee at the Redwood Theatre and find upon return to the Cafe that Beth now leases a shiny new Seaborg jukebox. They discuss the movie and agree that our boys on the Doolittle Raids were far better soldiers than the Japanese Kamikazes. The chapter concludes with a clever vehicular rouse as 'hot potatoes' are delivered from Hanford to Los Alamos.
