In this episode we learn that the Mediterranean diet is really a mix of cuisines from some varied and ancient cultures, 21 to be exact and that Maesters have found this diet to hold health benefits.
I speak to the teachings of the Maester Ancel Keys, and the Maesters from our previous episodes T Colin Campbell and Dan Buettner who talked about primarily plant-based eating and the blue zones, where people lived the longest and yes, the locations of Greece and Italy were on that very small list.
I love that they teach us that eating a whole primarily plant-based way of eating has so many benefits. They proport the benefits of great health and longevity.
And I will add that it’s not only the food, but the lifestyle that rounds out this diet. A relaxed existence and a nice walk.
So, as I prep for my walks and hikes and I meditate to the Maester Tamara Levitt, I will leave you with the words from the Maester I love and respect, T Colin Campbell, "A good diet is the most powerful weapon we have against disease and sickness."
