What Changed, What Still Matters, and How to Enter the Holiday Season with Greater Ease

What was on your list at the beginning of July?

Maybe you planned to organize a room, finish an important business project, travel, slow down, or spend more time with your family.

Now that September is ending, some of those plans may be complete. Others may still be sitting on the list and life may have added responsibilities you never expected.

Your Three Holiday Anchors

Instead of beginning the season with another overwhelming project list, choose three anchors:

1.  One home anchor: The area or system that needs to function well.
2.  One relationship anchor: The person, gathering, or tradition that deserves protected time.
3.  One personal anchor: The routine that helps you remain grounded.

These anchors will help you make decisions when invitations, responsibilities, and holiday expectations begin competing for your attention.

• Three things you accomplished during the third quarter
• One unexpected responsibility you handled
• One unfinished task that still matters
• One task you’re ready to release or postpone
• One word describing how you want the holidays to feel
• One home anchor
• One relationship anchor
• One personal anchor

Then choose one small first step.

You might confirm where Thanksgiving will be celebrated, protect an important family date, create one holiday note on your phone, or remove a project that no longer belongs on your list.

You don’t need to prepare for the entire holiday season today.

Begin with greater clarity and move forward step by step, little by little.
