A whole album for Sue's birthday. Happy Birthday. It was written to celebrate 30 years of being married. Seahouses in the Autumn was where we all met up. Cold , windswept, but a lovely place to be - as always. I tried to put together a new recording of pieces. Here they are. They were completed 3 years late, in 2020 and took a further 2 years to get in listening form. They were recorded in Alcobendas during the lockdown between March and late June 2020. Scratchy the cat features in more than one recording - he wouldn't get off my lap - so I let him get on with it in the end.
Tracks: 1. Stella Caeli - plainsong in the time of plague. A parent at the school I was working in sent me a haunting recording. It kept coming round in my head - probably not a very good thing ! 2. Matthew's Lament . Matt had his car vandalised and written off in the lockdown.
3. Round the Block Rob . In Lockdown Rob, Marri, Sue & Jack all lived together. Many , many walks - fortunately in some lovely countryside. 4. To the rescue. This is for Jack - who came to the rescue when we were trying to get to the UK . Jake was so heavily sedated before the ferry ride that Jack had to carry him on to the boat. 5. Light up another 7minor. My trip up to the Tabac became a real highlight. 6. Slow dance - they are the only types of dance I can do .
7. Saturday's here. The queue to Al Campo, walking the dog, and a few ceegars - love it !
8. Is anybody flying ? You could see the planes take off from our balcony in Alcobendas - there weren't any. I reckoned I saw a UFO one night - nonsense 9. The Grace Darling Song. I finally got to finish the arrangement of the tune. 10 Galicean Song. When we were in Santiago de Compostela I heard a piper playing - sounded very Irish/ Gaelic. 11. Harmony. 12. Alocobendas 13. The Last Bus . Buses kept going in the lockdown - always empty .14. Furloughed - nobody who was furloughed had a bad time - may be I'm wrong but it seemed pretty good.15. A long way to go. Driving out to Asturias in a Fiat 500 with the cat sat under the pedals in the car and Jake gasping for air. In the recording you can hear the cat walking off across the floor in disgust. 16.
