The work ethic thing is now slightly bizarre in this country. The balance has tipped so far in favour of the employer that your average good worker is completely de-motivated. They've already given it their all, gone the extra mile, worked their socks off - why should they do any more - usually for a pat on the head and an insincere "thank you"
