*Pastor David Greene - 1 Kings 18:20-40*
Many people are looking for answers to problems in life. They reach out for leadership formulas, for people, materials and even false gods. A friend once told em that my belief in God was good for me, in the sense of being a crutch that helped get my life straight, although it wasn't something that he himself needed.
This brings up the question: Is this really all God is, a church? Is He just another belief system that helps people get fixed up and placed onto the straight & narrow?
In 1 Kings 18:21 Elijah tells the people of Israel to stop limping between God and Baal; He says, "If the Lord is God, follow Him; but if Baal then follow him." God has shown all creation that He is not some sort of crutch, rather that He is God, and we are to know He is God! In verse 20-40 god shows that there are no other gods, that He is the One and Only True God.
