Season 1, Episode 20 - In today's episode, we talk about something we are all familiar with: complaints.  Every clergy hears complaints but why?  And, how common is complaining (very very common - the average person complains 15-30 times A DAY!).  Plus, we answer a couple of questions from episode #19 on Minimum Baselines.

Listen as we learn some of the whys, worst and best practices.

Why We Complain:
1.  Emotional regulation.
2.  Mood.
3.  Personality.
4.  Social factors

Worst Practices:
1. Take the complaint personally.
2. Read and ruminate about anonymous complaints.
3. Put the complainer in charge.

Best Practices:
1. Don't take it personally but take it (somewhat) seriously.
2. Ask: What is helpful here?
3. Don't magnify the importance of the complaint.
4. Get regular encouragement.

We will also look at

Mindfulness Meditation:
1.  What makes you smile?
2.  What makes you think?
3.  What makes you grow?
4.  Which of these will you do more of today?
