In today's episode of the podcast, we talk about strength training during pregnancy. We wanted to talk about this because we get a lot of questions and have many clients who have trained with us throughout their pregnancies. First, we discuss the positive impact of strength training while pregnant on post-birth recovery by helping you maintain a strong body. We also discuss the importance of working with your health care professional and trainer during your pregnancy. Training while pregnant also helps posture, reduces back and hip pain, lowers the risk of gestational diabetes, helps the body prepare for labor, and reduces the risk of preeclampsia. We cover the “do’s” of strength training during pregnancy, and modifying exercises as your body changes. As far as nutrition goes, we recommend lots of protein, fruits, vegetables, and iron-rich foods.
