2016 was peak Santa: roughly +13% into Christmas and nearly +10% after. Then 2017 flipped the script, with Bitcoin dumping about 21% into Christmas and sliding another 6% after the highs – a holiday horror show, not a rally.
On average, those festive windows only add around 1–1.5% each, a tiny edge compared with Bitcoin’s usual December volatility, which means the Santa rally is a fun narrative layer, not a trading system you can rely on.
