We delve into the story of deception involving the Gibeonites. As Israel continues its conquest of Canaan, they encounter the Gibeonites, who, fearing for their lives, deceive Joshua and the leaders into making a peace treaty. This agreement violated God's command not to make covenants with the inhabitants of Canaan. Despite realizing the deception, Joshua honors the treaty due to their oath to Yahweh, making the Gibeonites perpetual laborers for Israel.
