Notes from this message:
Matthew 22: 34-40
· The message is the triune nature of love (Agape)
· God – Others – Self
· We often think of love as giving, being nice, having feelings, etc. The love that we are called to is far more difficult. Agape = Authenticity
· Authentic with God – Others – Self sounds good on the surface but flies in the face of our culture and, for most of us, everything we have been taught even if we don’t realize it.
· Authentic means we smile, smell, stink, laugh, cry, struggle, and grieve. Authentic is a hard place to get to. Authenticity requires soul work.
Questions:
· What keeps me from authenticity?
o Fear (pride/resentment/uncomfortable with mystery)
o Myths (futility/time)
· Why in the world would I seek authenticity if it is so hard?!
o The two pursuits
o We are called to build the nest
Mark 8: 22-25
· Hand – Walk – Spit – Cover – Ask – Repeat
