The Left’s path to power is blocked by one of the oldest and least democratic founding documents in the world. Will it take a revolution to rewrite our Constitution? The recent Constituent Assembly in Chile may show a way forward.

Amna Akbar is a professor of law at The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law. Her popular essays and op-eds have appeared in the venues like the New York Times, New York Review of Books, the Boston Review, The Nation, and Jacobin.  She serves on the editorial board of the Law and Political Economy Blog. 

Aziz Rana is a professor of law at Cornell University.  He is the author of The Two Faces of American Freedom and the forthcoming book, The Constitutional Bind: Why a Broken Document Rules America.
