I Am Jonah
Jonah 1-2
- Jonah races away from God – Jonah 1:1-3
(2 Kings 14:25; Isaiah 55:8-9; 1 Corinthians 10:12; Proverbs 16:18)
- Pastor Davey said, “whenever we run in disobedience to God, Satan will be happy to arrange the transportation.”
- Running away from God will always cost you more than you estimate!
Is there an area of my life where I’m telling God no?
- God chases after Jonah – Jonah 1:4-15
(Proverbs 30:4; Psalm 135:7; Hebrews 12:6; Proverbs 3:11-12)
- Playing hide and seek with God is futile and foolish – you can’t hide from God.
- God is always with us…what a gift!
- God gives us consequences to teach us for our good.
- God wins (He always does!) – Jonah 1:16–2:6a
(Psalm 89:9; Matthew 12:38-42)
- God can use even our disobedience for His glory.
- If it is written in God’s Word, then we should believe it!
- God always listens to our prayers.
- God sometimes brings us to our knees to get us there.
- Jonah wins – Jonah 2:6b-10
(Psalm 18:6; Psalm 37:39; Psalm 103:12; 1 Corinthians 15:58)
- Knowing God’s Word and being able to call on it whenever we need it is a priceless gift that we shouldn’t take for granted.
- Restoration with God is winning!
***Just as we see God clearly in Jonah’s story, your life is also telling a story.
Can you clearly see God in it? ***
***Is your “yes” on the table? ***
