Do Not Judge
Matthew 7:1-6
“Do not judge”
The phrase “do not judge” is not to be used for self-justification.
“Do not judge” does not mean accept all practices/beliefs.
judgmentalism (vs) right judgment
· Judgment is evaluating a person’s action.
· Judgmentalism is evaluating a person’s worth/character/motives.
Being judgmental doesn’t make your evaluation wrong, it just makes you wrong.
the danger of judgmentalism
· You assume the role of God. (1-2)
· You take the focus off of yourself. (3-4)
· You look foolish. (3-4)
· You lose the ability to be helpful. (5)
· You damage your soul. (6)
help for a judgmental spirit
Acknowledge that you are not God.
Focus on your own sin.
Realize that God has shown mercy to you.
Be gracious to others.
