Have you ever noticed, on a given day, how many laws and how much authority you are subject to? Think about it. While driving, we are under the authority of the police. If we report to a boss at work, we are under their jurisdiction. What is our relationship with those authorities? Anytime we have authority over us other than God, it will be messy and painful. We were always designed to be under God's authority, and when man's authority challenges that authority, we have a choice to make. We have the opportunity to discern the word of God and practice what Jesus modeled to us by praying, "Lord, not my will, but your will be done."
