David Mitchell explains in Romans 15 why Jesus took the lowest position to serve the lowest nation. First, Jesus did it because His promises to the patriarchs must be fulfilled. It's God's character to keep all promises He made to His people at all costs. When Abraham, in Genesis, asked God for a child, God promised him that he would be the Father of Nations. You might have a list of promises God made to you. You might wonder if God will keep all the promises. Yes, He will. Abraham was gifted a son against all hope. Second, Jesus did it so the Gentiles might glorify God for His mercy. Jesus knew that if we glorify Him, it is a way of transforming us. What a great God we serve.
