Steph Lewis is our Labour candidate for #whanganui.
Borrn in Whanganui; she grew up between Kaitoke Prison village, where her Dad worked as a Prison Officer, and her family’s farm in Waverley.
She's worked as an employment advocate, a lawyer, an advisor, and an investigator.
Steph played a significant role in securing Government funding for the Whanganui Port redevelopment during the 2017 campaign. She currently co-chairs Labour's Economic Development Committee, where she helps develop policies to create jobs and raise incomes in our regions.
Dr Anae Neru Leavasa is a passionate, hardworking advocate and has served as the inaugural MP for Takanini, New Zealand. He has lived in #South Auckland for over 30 years. He is married and has two young children.
Leavasa's parents immigrated from Samoa in the 1980s, and after surviving metastatic bone cancer, Dr Anae was inspired to train as a Specialist GP to provide support to his community. He graduated from the University of Auckland Medical School and became a Fellow of the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners.
He currently Chairs the Health, Wellbeing and Social Services Caucus Committee and is the Deputy Chair for the Health Select Committee.
