We address Jesus’ “salted with fire” teaching by connecting salt to purity and fire to trials that refine the heart. Then we read Mark 10 and sit with the parts of Jesus that comfort us and the parts that confront us.
• salt, sacrifice, and inner purity tied to Leviticus 2:13 and Mark 9
• divorce, hard hearts, and God’s design for marriage
• welcoming children and receiving the kingdom with trust
• the rich man’s sorrow and the cost of letting go
• “with humans it is impossible” and why God can save
• leaving everything to follow Jesus and the promise of reward with persecutions
• Jesus predicting his suffering, death, and resurrection
• servant leadership and greatness defined by service
• Bartimaeus’ bold faith and Jesus’ question “What do you want me to do for you?”
