How to let God define this summer:

1. Switch Out your FAME for God’s FAME (vv1-3)

                        a. Serious ADVERSITY casts doubt on God’s Power.
                        b. Two options: Trust in God, or Trust in Something else! 
                        c. God’s reputation is STEADFAST and TRUSTWORTH

1. Switch Trust in Idols for Trust in God (vv4-11)

                        a. Fundamental principle: whatever you worship you become like

                                                              i.      Be careful that you know the God you are worshiping! 

                                                            ii.      The way God changes you is through trust.

                                                          iii.      Christian life is summarized as: trust and obey.

                        b. TRUSTING IS ESSENTIAL TO LIVING
                        c. Idols make promises they can’t keep
                        d. Idols leave you for dead, God won’t.
                        e. God is a HELPER and SHIELD

           3. Switch your purposes for God’s purpose (vv12-18)
                        a. The Maker of heaven and earth wants to make something out of your life
                        b. Blessing CAUSES blessing others
                        c. Blessing LEADS to blessing God
