Playing small is one of the leading deterrents to loving Monday just like Friday. In this episode we explore the ways we play small in our careers. Here are some of those ways:

  1. Staying in our comfort zone: We may choose to stay in a job that is safe and familiar, rather than take on new challenges and responsibilities that could help us grow and develop our skills.
  2. Limiting beliefs: We may hold limiting beliefs about our abilities or worth, and not pursue opportunities that could lead to growth and advancement.
  3. Settling for less: We may settle for a job that is below our potential or that does not align with our values, goals, or interests.
  4. Fearing failure: We may avoid taking risks or trying new things because we fear failure or rejection.
  5. Lack of self-advocacy: We may not speak up for ourselves, negotiate for better salaries or benefits, or ask for opportunities for growth and development.
  6. Not networking: We may not prioritize building relationships and networking, which can limit our exposure to new opportunities and resources.
  7. Procrastination: We may procrastinate on important tasks or projects, hindering our productivity and progress.
  8. Not investing in personal development: We may not invest in personal and professional development, such as attending training or seeking mentorship or coaching.
